|Bob Braeunig's Apollo Pages
This site is an collection of articles and analyzes I've authored on over the years related to the Apollo moon missions. These works grew from discussions at the ApolloHoax Web Forum. The goal of the forum is to use factual information to counter the claims that the Apollo moon landings were faked. Having some expertise in the subjects of rocketry and orbital mechanics, as well as having good knowledge of Apollo history, I've been able to make several contributions to that goal.
The information below first appeared, in some form, in the pages of the forum. Here I've gathered and reformatted the original works for archival and easy access. Since the claims of conspiracy theorists keep resurfacing time and time again, it won't be long before some of these topics are revisited.
Table of Contents
|Sep-2014||Apollo and the Van Allen Belts , R. A. Braeunig
An estimate of the radiation dose received by the Apollo astronauts during their transit of the Van Allen radiation belts.
|Jun-2011||Lunar Module Blast Crater, R. A. Braeunig
An estimate of the volume of lunar soil displaced by the lunar module's descent engine during landing.
|Jul-2010||Saturn V Launch Simulation, R. A. Braeunig
Report on the results of a computer simulation to model the ascent of Apollo 11's Saturn V launch vehicle from Cape Canaveral to Earth orbit. Also includes a calculation of translunar injection.
|Dec-2009||Lunar Module Descent Simulation, R. A. Braeunig|
[Originally presented Jun-2006]
Report on the results of a computer simulation to model the descent of Apollo 17's lunar module from lunar orbit to the surface of the Moon.
|Nov-2009||Lunar Module Ascent Simulation, R. A. Braeunig|
[Originally presented Jul-2005]
Report on the results of a computer simulation to model the ascent of Apollo 17's lunar module from the surface of the Moon to lunar orbit.
|Nov-2009||Apollo 11's Translunar Trajectory, R. A. Braeunig
Derives the orbital elements of, calculates the position of, and illustrates in multiple views, Apollo 11's translunar trajectory. Also includes an analysis of the spacecraft's exposure to the Van Allen Radiation Belts.
|Sep-2008||Hybrid Lunar Profile with LOI and TEI, R. A. Braeunig
Animated graphical representation of a computer simulated hybrid lunar profile with lunar orbit insertion and transearth injection.
|Aug-2008||Circumlunar Free Return Trajectory, R. A. Braeunig
Animated graphical representation of a computer simulated circumlunar free return trajectory.
The following articles are contributed by other Apollohoax members and represent some very fine work:
|Dec-2009||Apollo 11 TLI Animation, Drewid|
Two animations showing Apollo 11's translunar trajectory through the region of the Van Allen Radiation Belts.
|Oct-2006||Cloud Patterns in Apollo 11 Images , Rick Rather
Shows that cloud patterns in Apollo 11 TV transmissions and photographs matches the historical record of precipitation across the United States at the same time.
